Information on Canon PG-521 \ CL-521 Cartridges
We have been testing an IP4600 for 3-4 weeks now. This is one of the new range of Canon printers available that uses the new Pgi-520\Cli-521 individual ink tanks. The cartridges are essentially the same to fill as the Pgi-5\Cli-8 cartridge but a little smaller. The new cartridges include a new chip and can't be reset at the moment. But the cartridges can be refilled and used by disabling the cartridge ink level. Disabling the ink level on the cartridge is the same procedure as earlier model printers - holding the resume button for 5 seconds will allow the refilled cartridge to work.

Ausjet Centrifuge Has Arrived!
The Ausjet Centrifuge works by spinning the cartridges quickly on an axis at a certain RPM which forces the ink out, this motion is called centrifugal force. The advantage of emptying a cartridge before filling is to remove as much of the previous ink as possible. By removing as much of the previous ink we produce a more pure product, nobody is 100% sure how previous ink in a cartridge can affect the quality of the remanufactured product over time. But it’s a extra factor that may contribute to some unusual faults.

The Ausjet centrifuge has a built in manual control which is perfect for priming cartridges. The best way to understand priming is to think of it this way. After filling a cartridge the ink normally remains in the foam/sponge, to get the cartridge working correctly the ink also has to fill the prechamber(beyond the filter) and also the printhead channels and nozzle area. A quick few seconds of the centrifuge is all thats required to prime a cartridge.

The Centrifuge is also very effective at cleaning the foam, prechamber, filter and nozzle area of the cartridge. This is best achieved by filling the cartridge with cleaning fluid or distilled water and then emptying the cartridge. This is brilliant for recovering colour contaminated  cartridges.
